Hilda Elizabeth Hon Boyd, 96, of Russellville, AR, passed away Friday, November 28, 2014 in Russellville, AR.
The daughter of James and Gladys Taverner Hon, Hilda was born February 12, 1918 in Flat Rock Community, AR.
Hilda was a self-educated woman. Having taught herself typing and shorthand, she worked as a secretary for Retail Merchants Credit Association, Philip H. Harris Attorney at Law and, ultimately, managed Inglewood Meadows Apartments in Inglewood, CA. After retiring, she worked for the Area Agency on Aging in Clarksville, Arkansas as a Senior Companion. She was a member of the Martin Chapel Assembly of God Church. Hilda was an accomplished seamstress and quilter and enjoyed sewing clothing for her son, daughter-in-law, and grandchildren. She was a wonderful cook and could make any pie from scratch.
She was preceded in death by her parents, stepmother, Lydia Mattis Hon; husband, John Martin Boyd, and only son, John David Boyd; three brothers, David, Glen, and Edward (Gene) Hon; three sisters, Maxie Hon Gobell, Juanita Hon Hercules, and Connie Hon Tucker.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Lorraine Boyd, of Wichita, Kansas; three grandchildren: Aaron Boyd (Jenny) of Fort Myers, Florida, Sarah Boyd, of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Alice Boyd de Villegas (Diego), of West Chester, OH; three great grand children, Danny Boyd, Diego and Isabella Villegas-Boyd; three sisters, Wilma Hon Gray, Iva Hon Shinn, both of Russellville, Geraldine Hon Bell of Tampa, FL; one brother, James Gerald Hon of London, Arkansas and numerous nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be at 1:00 p.m. Funeral Service to follow at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 6, 2014, at Humphrey Chapel, Jerry Ferguson will officiate. Burial will be at Brock Cemetery in London, AR, by Humphrey Funeral Service.
