CORALVILLE
Dale M. Kimm, 84, of 955 Applewood Court, formerly of 834 Fourth Ave., Iowa City, died Friday afternoon, Nov. 2, 2001, in Mercy Iowa City following a long illness. Services: 1 p.m. Tuesday, Lensing Funeral Service, Iowa City, by the Rev. Paul Akin. Burial: Memory Gardens Cemetery, Iowa City. Military rites provided by Coralville American Legion and assisted by other local military organizations. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Monday at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to First United Methodist Church, Visiting Nurses Association or the American Diabetes Association.
Mr. Kimm was born Aug. 5, 1917, in Huron, S.D., the son of Martin and Gae Powell Kimm. He grew up in Huron, S.D., Blairstown and Vinton. He married Inez Austin on Sept. 3, 1947, in Grinnell.
He served as a sergeant in the U.S. Army during World War II and was awarded the Purple Heart. Mr. Kimm moved to Iowa City in 1946. He worked as a stock room keeper for the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy for 26 years, retiring in 1986.
Mr. Kimm was a member of First United Methodist Church, the Coralville American Legion Walter Johnson Post No. 721 and Iowa City Moose Lodge No. 1096. Dale and his wife enjoyed camping and were members of the Hawkeye J-Flight Camping Club of Iowa City.
Survivors include his wife, Inez; a son and his family, Kevin and wife Randi and their daughter, Madeline, of Overland Park, Kan.; three sisters-in-law, Norma Kimm of Knoxville, Irene Terrazas of Santa Fe, N.M., and Audrey Oltrogge of Grinnell; a brother and sister-in-law, Vaughn Austin and wife Carol of Arlington, Texas; and a number of nieces and nephews.
Dale was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Stanley; a sister, Maxine; and a son, Terry.
