age 37, of Primrose Drive, Morehead, Kentucky, passed away Thursday, September 15, 2011, at his residence.


Born February 24, 1974, in Rowan County, Kentucky, he is the son Vietnam veteran Douglas Dale Johnson, who passed away September 4, 2009, and Gail Simmons Mahar of Nashua, New Hampshire.


Chris is also survived by his wife, Cindy Thomas Johnson; one son, Daniel Johnson and one daughter, Destiney Johnson, both of Carlisle, Kentucky; three stepsons, Cory Ford of Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Zach Ford of Morehead, Kentucky, Josh Ford of Georgetown, Kentucky; two brothers, Douglas Dale Johnson II and his wife Jodi of Morehead, Kentucky, and Lakota Lee Johnson of Soldier, Kentucky; one sister, Anna Marie Brown of Morehead, Kentucky; paternal grandmother, Freda Lambert Johnson of Morehead, Kentucky; stepmother, Patty Johnson of Morehead, Kentucky; stepfather, Hal Mahar of Nashua, New Hampshire; two nieces, Kelsey and Ciara Johnson and other loving family members, including his uncle, Greg Johnson, whom he considered a brother.


Besides his father, Chris was preceded in death by one brother, Dakota Johnson, in 2000, and paternal grandfather, Ivo "Chick" Johnson, in 1991.


Chris owned and operated Johnson Automotive Repair. He enjoyed riding motorcycles, fishing, listening to music, watching movies, and restoring old cars. He was a huge Steelers fan and paintball enthusiast.


Graveside services will be conducted 11 a.m. Tuesday, September 20, 2011, at Ditney Cemetery with the Rev. Jeff Fannin officiating.


Visitation is after 5 p.m. Monday, September 19, 2011, at Northcutt & Son Home for Funerals in Morehead.
