A native of Madison County, he was born on November 16, 1925 to the late James M. Mace and Lula Gosnell Mace.
George was a charter member and Deacon at Temple Missionary Baptist Church and was retired from Burlington Industries. George was a loving father and grandfather, who worked hard to take care of and provide for his beloved family. He enjoyed life and had many interests.
He was preceded in death by his wife Verlie Frisbee Mace, and grandson Daniel Robert Mace. Surviving are five children, Earl Mace and wife Jacquie of Fort Mill, SC, Gary Mace and wife Pam of Midland, Jimmy Mace and wife Evelyn of Morganton, Linda Duncan and husband Eddie of Bakersville and Randy Mace and wife Julia of Granite Falls; eight grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Burial will be in McDowell Memorial Park.
