Obituary, The Columbia Daily Tribune, August 23, 2008:

Myrtle Tooley Canton, 70, of Columbia died Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2008, at University Hospital.

Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 26, at Second Baptist Church in Columbia with the Rev. Raymond Hayes officiating.

Burial will be in Memorial Park Cemetery. Friends may call from noon to 2 p.m. Tuesday at the church.

Myrtle was born Nov. 23, 1937, in Forest Green, the daughter of Cecil and Ruth Lee Tooley.

She was the head cook for Alpha Gamma Rho fraternity.

Survivors include her mother, Ruth Ganaway of Fayette; one daughter, Dian Savage and her husband, Marcus, of Tulsa, Okla.; one son, Alvin Canton of Columbia; four sisters, Verna McKee of Fayette and Genelle Hawkins, Devolia Eubanks and Ruby Mayfield, all of Columbia; five brothers, William Tooley of Kansas City, Chester Ganaway of Boonville, Delbert Ganaway of Slater, and Glenn and Lynn Ganaway, both of Fayette; two daughters-in-law, Mona Canton of Harker Heights, Texas, and Tammy Canton of Columbia; eight grandchildren; and eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her father; two sons, Michael Canton and George Canton Jr.; and one brother, Curtis Tooley.

H.T. May and Son Funeral Home in Boonville is in charge of arrangements.
