Child Drowns In Stock Tank
The entire community was shocked and grieved when it became known early Saturday evening that little Diane Marie Kissner, the oldest daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Kissner, had fallen into the water tank at the farm home north of Jeffers and drowned after being missed for only two or three minutes. The supper hour was at hand and the little family gathered for the evening meal only to find that the little one had slipped away for only an instant with the sad result mentioned. The yard was fenced and every precaution had been taken to present such an accident. The grandparents Mr. and Mrs. W.B. Purrington of Windom and Mr. and Mrs. Louis Kissner and their families and the many other relatives gathered at once to comfort the inconsolable parents into whose home grim tragedy had stalked through no fault of their own. Not quite two years of age the little girl was dearly beloved by the parents, the little eight month's old sister, Julie Anne, the grandparents in whole home little Diane was often a welcome guest and the aunts and uncles and many other relatives all of whom were plunged into mourning by the sudden tragedy. Funeral services were held for the little one on Tuesday afternoon at 1:30 o'clock from the home of the parents and at 2 o'clock at the Germantown Lutheran church. The floral offerings were abundant and very beautiful. Relatives and friends gathered from many miles distant andfrom the home community to be with the sorrowing parents at the service. Interment was made at Lamberton. The sympathy of everyone is extended to the family in their bereavement. -- Windom Citizen
