Emanuel Steinert
Emanuel Steinert, son of John F. and Eva Dumler, was born January 8, 1891 in Russell Co., KS. He departed this life on earth March 3, 1973 at the Hoisington Lutheran Hospital in Hoisington, KS. His age was 82 years, 1 month and 25 days.
Baptized in early infancy and later confirmed in the Lutheran faith, he remained steadfast to his Lord and Savior throughout his lifetime. A long time resident of the farming community around Milberger, he was united in marriage to Lydia Whitman, April 28, 1910, and assumed his occupation as farmer. During the 1918-19 influenza epidemic his wife preceded him in death on January 21, 1919. On March 10, 1920, he was again united in marriage to Lydia Wassemiller Steinert at Russell, KS. They continued farming in the Milberger area for a number of years and then in 1949 they came to Russell to establish their home at 600 Grant Street. Here also, he soon became a beloved, esteemed and trusted member of the community. After the death of his wife in 1970, he resided at the Homestead Villa in Hoisington.
A devoted husband, father and grandfather, a gracious and generous brother, neighbor and friend, his many acts and deeds of love, devotion and kindness, will always be treasured by his family.
Surviving Emanuel are five children, Lewis Steinert of Hays, KS; Mrs. Viola Darby, El Monte, California; Leo, Leland and Hubert Steinert, all of Great Bend, KS; one brother, Dave Steinert, of Hoisington, KS; nine grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren, many other near relatives nd a host of friends.
Services: Tuesday, March 6, 1973, from the United Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Milberger, KS at 2 p.m. with Pastor Robert S. Kreir and Pastor G. Weise officiating.
Music: Mr. Clarence Steinert, Soloist Mrs. Rudy Funk, Organist
Casket Bearers: Sidney Steinert, Dale Steinert, Keith Swim, Don Carroll, Bernard Moffet, Lynn Sargent

Milberger - Emanuel Steinert, 82, of Russell, died Saturday at the hospital in Hoisington. He was born Jan. 8, 1891, in Russell Co..
He married Lydia Whittman on April 28, 1910, and she died Jan. 21, 1919. He married Lydia Wassemiller on March 10, 1920, and she preceded him in death on March 20, 1970.
Mr. Steinert farmed near Milberger until 1949 when he moved to Russell. He has been a resident of the Homestead Villa in Hoisington for the past two years.
He was a member of the United Emanuel Lutheran Church in Milberger.
Survivors include four sons, Lewis, Hayes; and Leo, Leland and Hubert, all from Great Bend; a daughter, Mrs. Viola Darby, El Monte, Calif.; one brother, Dave, Hoisington; nine grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday from the United Emanuel Lutheran Church in Milberger with Revs. Robert S. Krier and G. Weise officiating. Burial will be in the Milberger cemetery.
Friends may call at Nicholson-Ricke Funeral Home in Hoisington until 10:30 a.m. Tuesday and from noon until service time at the church."

Russell - Emanuel Steinert, 82, died Saturday at Hoisington Hospital after a long illness. Born Jan. 8, 1891, in Russell Co., he married Lydia Wittman, April 28, 1910, at Milberger. She died Jan. 21, 1919. He then married Lydia Wassemiller Steinert, March 10, 1970 (sic, note funeral card and obituary both say 1920). He farmed in the Milberger area until 1949 when he moved to Russell. He had been a resident of the Homestead Villa, Hoisington, for the past two years.
He was a member of the United Emmanuel Lutheran Church, Milberger.
Survivors include sons: Leo, Leland, and Hubert, Great Bend; Lewis, Hays; daughter, Mrs. Viola Darby, El Monte, Calif., brother, Dave, Hoisington; nine grandchildren; 15 great grandchildren.
