Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 4, at the Methodist Church in Culbertson. The Rev. Tim Hutslar will officiate and interment will follow at Hillside Cemetery in Culbertson.
Constine was born Nov. 9, 1919, in Froid, Mont., to Conrad and Anna Damm. He was raised on the Damm family homestead, northwest of Culbertson.
Constine was united in marriage with Rosalie Hellstern on May 26, 1942, at Wolf Point. They were married for 54 years, until her death in 1996.
In 1947, he moved to the Hellstern family farm near Hinsdale, where he farmed and ranched until moving back to Culbertson in 1952. Constine worked for Co-op Chevrolet in Culbertson until it burned down in 1953. He purchased the Peterson Garage in 1954, and renamed it Culbertson Motor Sales, which he operated for 25 years.
Constine was a horticulture inspector for the State of Montana for 20 years, a volunteer fireman for 16 years and a member of the Culbertson Horseshoe Club for 30 years.
He drove a school bus, worked in the safflower plant at Culbertson and worked for the city and local hospital. Constine also served on the Methodist Church board and as an officer of the Culbertson Senior Citizens. In 1997, he was named Senior Citizen of the Year.
Constine is survived by his daughter, Sharon Borer of Townsend, Mont.; two sons, Gary of Great Falls and Larry of Billings; seven grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; his brother, George Damm of Froid; and four sisters, Molly Damm, Marie Damm and Anna Luft, all of Culbertson, and Lydia Liebrecht of Yorkton, Saskatchewan, Canada.
