THe following information was provided by Dennis Brandt #47232334

A Civil War veteran, he enlisted in Carlisle as a substitute for S. W. Sterett September 2, 1863, mustered into federal service there, and later assigned to Co. I, 127th U.S. Colored Troops. He was honorably discharged with his company September 8, 1865, at Brazos, Texas, having paid $4.90 for losing his half of a shelter tent. A laborer by trade, he had black hair, black eyes, and a black complexion. His height is reported both at 5' 3" and 5' 10".
