Edward George Duda, 93, formerly of Owatonna, died Tuesday, Sept. 20, 2011, at his residence in Rochester.

Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Sept. 23, 2011, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Owatonna.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Brick-Meger Funeral Home (1603 Austin Road, Owatonna) and one hour prior to the funeral on Friday at the church. A Knights of Columbus rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home. Interment, with military honors, will be in Fort Snelling National Cemetery at 1 p.m. Monday, Sept. 26, 2011.

Edward was born Feb. 13, 1918, in Chicago to Jacob and Anna (Majewski) Duda. He served honorably in the Army during World War II in the medical corps. Edward married Phyllis Marchese on July 8, 1950, at St. Kevin's Catholic Church in Chicago. Edward was a steelworker in Chicago for 40 years. Following his retirement, the couple moved to Owatonna.

He was an honorary life member of the Knights of Columbus, Sacred Heart Catholic Church and the VFW. Edward enjoyed baseball, including being the scorekeeper for the Owatonna Aces, and he delivered Meals-On-Wheels. Most of all, Edward loved following all the sports and activities of his six grandchildren.

Survivors include his wife, Phyllis of Rochester; his son, Edward J. (Rita) Duda of Rochester; two daughters, Bonnie Duda of Owatonna and Lu Ann (John) Polejewski of Eden Prairie; six grandchildren, Joseph (Lindsay) Duda, Peter Duda, Angela Duda, Jacob Duda, Ann Marie Polejewski and Jack Polejewski; two great-grandchildren, Analeigh and Henry Duda; and nieces and nephews. Edward was preceded in death by his parents, a brother and a sister.
