DENNIS - Thelma "Ma Did" Sartain, 93, died Monday, May 31, 2004, at her home. She was born June 3, 1910, in Shottsville, Ala. She was a homemaker and a member of Shottsville Methodist Church for 80 years.

Services will be at 11 a.m. today at Shottsville Methodist Church with Bro. Jimmy Hunter and Bro. Plumb officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home of Red Bay, Ala., is in charge of the arrangements.

Survivors include a son, Carles Sartain and wife, Evonne, of Booneville; a daughter-in-law, Corrine Capps of Jasper, Ala.; a son-in-law, Hobert Shotts of Hamilton, Ala.; a special niece, Lavelle Hawkins of Dennis; eight grandchildren, Danny Sartain and wife, Linda, and Rodney Sartain and wife, Jalayne, of Mountain View, Ark., Jackie Sartain and wife, Tabitha, of Columbus, Rhonda Sartain of Hohenwald, Tenn., Don Shotts and wife, Shelia, and Mike Shotts and wife, Donita, all of Hamilton, Ala., Eddy Sartain and Ricky Sartain of Jasper, Ala.; five great-grandsons, eight great-granddaughters, a host of nieces and nephews; a special great-nephew, Keith Smith.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Curtis Sartain; her parents, George and Michel Emerson; a daughter, Earlou Shotts; a son, Hollis Sartain; five brothers; and a sister.

Her grandsons will serve as pallbearers.
