WILLIAM BRUCE BLEVINS

WILLIAM BRUCE BLEVINS, 70, of Little Rock, Arkansas, passed away October 25th, 2009.

He was born in El Dorado, Arkansas on August 27th, 1939 to Clifford and Patricia Blevins.

He graduated from Henderson State University where he played college football.

He was a U.S. Navy veteran and in 1960 was awarded a Bronze star for his service in the Taiwan Straits.

Following his military service, he graduated from the University of Arkansas School of Law.

He practiced law for 40 years, during which he served as a judge in Jacksonville Municipal Court.

He was licensed to practice before the US Supreme Court.

He was a member of the Arkansas Bar Association where he served as President and a member of the American Bar Association and the American Trial Lawyers Association.

He was an avid golfer and loved to travel. He toured France and many of the locations pertaining to D-Day activities.

He is survived by his daughter Beth Ann Blevins Carpenter (an attorney for the city of Little Rock) and her husband Larry; also his son William Blevins (an attorney and FBI Agent) of Little Rock, and sister Jane Beezley and her husband Michael of Amarillo, Texas.

He was Grandfather to Alexandra Wykes, Sydney Blevins and Hanna Blevins.

He also had a host of other relatives and many friends.

Services with Military Honors were held on Wednesday, October 28th at 2PM at the Fellowship Bible Church in Little Rock. Rev. Brandon Swoboda officiated.

Mr. Blevins was cremated and his ashes were scattered around a tree in Texas by a family member.

Services with Military Honors will be Wednesday, October 28 at 2:00 p.m. at Fellowship Bible Church, 1401 Kirk Road, Little Rock, officiated by Rev. Brandon Swoboda. Visitation will follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Society of Pulaski County, 14600 Colonel Glenn, Little Rock, AR 72210.
