John Bersch, veteran resident of the town of Brothertown, died at his home last Sunday noon at the age of seventy-eight following an illness of about two years. The funeral attended by many friends and relatives of the deceased, took place from Holy Trinity church, Jericho, Wednesday, with Rev. F. C. Heimann officiating.

Six grandsons bore the casket to the grave; Herbert and Leo Propson and Lawrence Halfmann of Fond du Lac; Adolph Halfmann of Chicago; Arthur and Irving Gruber, Chilton. A seventh grandson, Roman Gruber, acted as cross bearer.

Mr. Bersch was born in Mosel, Sheboygan County, April 19, 1854, a son of Anna Lisfelt and Jacob Bersch. He was married at St. Charles Church, Charlesburg to Miss Mary Nisler Sept. 13, 1881. Father Vonderthamen performed the ceremony. The venerable couple celebrated their golden wedding anniversary last September in the midst of a host of admiring friends and well wishers who bestowed on them many gifts in token of their esteem.
Following their marriage, Mr. and Mrs. Bersch settled in Charlesburg where they lived for ten years at what is known as the Keuler place. They moved to St. Cloud in the early nineties and alter to Brothertown where they have made their home for 37 years. They were the parents of ten children, all of whom survive except one son, August, who died at the age of ten and a half years.

The deceased is survived by his widow, six daughters and three sons;
