The obituary of Leo's second wife, Johannah Sebastian Vitt, stated: "She came from Alsace-Lorraine early in life and was married to Leo Vitt at Elgin, Illinois, in 1855. She came with her husband to Olathe, Kansas, then homesteaded a farm south of Eudora, thence to Lawrence, Kansas, and in 1866 came to Eudora where she resided until her death. She died on Thursday (March 1, 1900) of pleuro pneumonia at the age of 66 years, 3 mos. and 18 days. Funeral services were held on Sunday at 11 a.m. at the Catholic Church in Eudora, and she was buried in the cemetery there beside her husband." Martha B. Schlemmer told of going with her fauther (William) to Johannah's funeral. We were told that Leo's daughters, Mary, Johannah Gutsmithl and Pauline are buried in the same lot, but we saw only the one market for Leo. NOTE: Veronika, George and Johanna Gutsmithl are buried in Lot 92 (two rows West, and to the far North, to isle) from Leo.

Mrs. Johanna Vitt was buried on March 4, 1900, in Lot 74.
