Agnes E. Schmitz, 81, of 210 Memorial Dr., Chilton, died on Monday, May 3, 1999 at the Beverly Health Center in Chilton.
She was born on Feb. 20, 1918 in the town of Charlestown, daughter of the late William and Mary (Schirmer) Heimann.
She married Harold L. Schmitz on May 16, 1936 at St. Martin Catholic Church in Charlestown. He preceded her in death on Sept. 4, 1995.
She and her husband had farmed in the town of Brothertown for many years. She was an active member of Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Jericho, the Christian Mothers, the Daughters of Isabella, the Catholic Knights, The Catholic Family and the Chilton Eagles Auxiliary #1288.
Survivors include seven children;
Barbara (Clarence) Weller of Stockbridge,
Michael (Shirley) Schmitz of Chilton,
Francis (Joy) Schmitz of Three Lakes,
Joan (Gerald) Steffen of Chilton,
Robert (Karen) Schmitz of Chilton,
Richard (Grayce) Schmitz of Hilbert,
Janice (Gary) Gutsmiedl of Larsen;
24 grandchildren, Gina Schmitz, Sherrie Weller, Sherrill Knezel, Stephen Weller, Michelle Janikowski, Laura Thiel, Kelley Owens, Bret, Dean and Sarah Schmitz, Josh, Cindy and Mary Steffen, Kevin, Wendy and Karri Schmitz, Elizabeth, Christopher, Jeffrey, Brady and Lacey Schmitz, Jennifer, Erich, and Angela Gutsmiedl;
six great grandchildren, Spencer Knezel, Ashley, Brittney and A. Cody Thiel, Ericka and Andrea Owens;
Seven sisters, Hildegard Geiser of Chilton, Angela Mathes of New Holstein, Rosemary (Linus) Woelfel of New Holstein, Theresa (Alfons) Buechel of Chilton, Clarissa (Hilary) Gebhart of Chilton, Delores (Leo) Krebsbach of Green Bay, Germaine (Arthur) Koehler of Kingston, Ariz.;
two brothers, Joseph (Louise) Heimann Sr. of Chilton, Clarence (Marie) Heimann of Kiel; two sisters-in-law, Lovina Laudolff of Fond du Lac, Viola Schmitz of Chilton.
She was also preceded in death by a son, Leroy in June of 1980.
Funeral services will be held at Holy Trinity Church in Jericho, with the Rev. Carey Lahrs SDS officiating. Burial will follow in the parish cemetery.
