Funeral services celebrating the life of Wilmer Herman Schubert, age 86, of Lester Prairie, were Thursday, Feb. 19, 2004 at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in New Germany.
Wilmer died Monday, Feb. 16, 2004, at Ridgeview Medical Center, Waconia, having reached the age of 86 years, 11 months and 18 days.
He was born Feb. 28 1917, in Camden Township, Carver County, the son of Herman and Helena (Schultz) Schubert. He was baptized March 25, 1917, and confirmed into the faith on March 29, 1931, both at St. Mark’s Lutheran Church by the Rev. Theo Rolf.
Wilmer was united in marriage to Argoldie Krienke Oct. 18, 1939 at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church in Lester Prairie, by the Rev. Schert. The couple moved to a farm near New Germany, where they farmed for 32 years. In 1977, they moved to Lester Prairie.
Wilmer was a lifelong member of St. Mark’s Lutheran Church in New Germany. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved to fish and go hunting.
Wilmer was also a big Twins fan and enjoyed watching their games on television.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Herman and Helena Schubert; brother Lorence Schubert; and sisters Alice Henke and Malinda Strehlke.
Wilmer is survived by his wife, Argoldie Schubert of Lester Prairie; sons Lowell Schubert and wife, Valariaa, and Ron Schubert, all of Delano; grandchildren: Renae Clark (husband, Brian), Brian Schubert, Jerry Schubert (wife, Stacy), Debbie Hall (husband, Tom), Deanne Berkes, Diane Schubert, and Bradley Schubert; sister Helen Strehlke of Watertown; brothers and sisters-in-law: Edna Schubert of Winsted, Harvey and Rosilvia Redepenning of Waconia, Elmer and Arsilvia Loehrs of Mayer, and Herbert and Betty Krienke of Hutchinson; as well as many nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Visitation was Wednesday evening, Feb. 18, at the Paul-McBride Funeral Chapel in Lester Prairie.
The Rev. Allen Holthus officiated at the 11 a.m. funeral service. The organist was Vernice Menth, and the congregational hymns were “Abide With Me” and “That The Lord Would Guild My Ways.” Soloist Franklin Schoenke sang “Amazing Grace.” Interment was in St. Mark’s Cemetery.
Casket bearers were Brian Schubert, Jerry Schubert, Tom Hall, Brian Clark, Mark Strehlke, and Dan Menth.
