LAWTON - Funeral service for Ruth May Koetter, 89, of Lawton, was held at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 20, 2019, at Paradise Valley Baptist Church. Burial followed at Elgin Memorial Cemetery under the direction of the Fletcher Funeral Home.
Ruth was born Feb. 2, 1930, in Lawton to Rudy and Della (Middleton) Harless. She married Lynn Ballou and their daughter, Beverly, was born in 1954. Their second child, Douglas, was born in 1956, and four years later their third child, Travis, was born.
Lynn and Ruth made their home north of Lawton. Ruth was married later to Lawrence Koetter who has two sons, Ron and Keith. She was a member of both the Lawton and Moore chapters of Sweet Adeline’s for a total of 33 years. She and Lawrence were very cunning domino players. She is also a saint.
She is survived by her sister Mary; two sons: Douglas and Travis Ballou, two stepsons: Ron and his spouse Marci Koetter-Manson; and Keith Koetter; son in-law Sam Davidson; many grand- and step-grandchildren and many great- and step-greatgrandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Koetter; daughter, Beverly Davidson; brothers Joe, Frank and Mike Harless, and a granddaughter, Stephanie Ballou.
