Minnie was the second daughter of Henry Thies. She was christened on January 27, 1884 (christening registered at Muchow in Mecklenburg).Her given name was Minna Johanna Friederike Thies. Her family lived in Grazan.

She, her parents and her sister immigrated to America in 1883 and settled temporarily in Belvidere , Illinois. The family moved to Clark County, South Dakota in 1885.

Minnie filed the first papers of her intent to become citizens of the United States on 21 March 1906 in Clark Circuit Court, SD. It appears that no second or final papers are on file in the South Dakota State Archives.

She was the wife of Robert Perschy. They had no children.
