EFFINGHAM — David J. Deters, 65, of Effingham died at 3:30 a.m. Sunday, Oct. 9, 2011, at Heartland Christian Village, Neoga.

David was born May 19, 1946 in Effingham, the son of Clarence and Juanita (Walk) Deters.

He was a line repairman at Fedders Corp., retiring after 37 years. He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, Effingham, and served with the U.S. Army as a military policeman.

He is survived by his special friend and companion, Jeannie Evans of Effingham; son, Mike (Kendra) of Altamont; brothers, Dan (Nancy) of Sigel and Doug (Nancy) of Sigel; sisters, Judy (Mark) Lueken of Teutopolis, Debbie (Jim) LeCrone of Effingham and Marcia (Mark) Wollin of Effingham; six grandchildren; and three great-great grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Burial will be at St. Michael's cemetery with military graveside rites.

Memorials may be made to the donor's choice.
