Mrs. Anna Barhorst

NEWPORT - Mrs. Anna M. Barhorst, 82, Newport, died at noon Sunday at the home of a daughter, Mrs. Marcellus Monnin. She had been in failing health for two years.

Born Nov. 23, 1876 at St. Rose, she was a daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Ungruhn.

She was married May 19, 1896 to Joseph H. Barhorst, who died April 2, 1951.

Surviving are six daughters, Mrs. Lena Grilliot of Versailles, Mrs. Marcellus (Veronica) Monnin of Russia, Mrs. Omer (Clara) Monnin of Dayton, Mrs. August (Freda) Cordonnier of Russia, Mrs. Lyndon (Mary) Francis of Dayton and Mrs. Anthony (Rozitta) Marchal of Newport; four sons, Bernard of Dayton, Frank, Joseph and William, all of Newport; 64 grandchildren and 59 great-grandchildren. Two sons, Irvin and August, preceded her in death.

She was a member of Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church, Newport, and the Altar and Rosary Society.

Requiem High Mass will be celebrated at 9 a.m. Wednesday in Sts. Peter and Paul Church with Rev. Aloysius Leon officiating. Burial will be in the church cemetery.

Three grandchildren are in the religious order. They are Sister Mary Rachelle of St. Joe, Mo., Sister Mary Carmelita of Dayton and Brother James Barhorst of Cleveland.

Friends may call at the Marcellus Monnin residence on Miller Road near Russia after 7 p.m. today.

Arrangements are under the direction of the Heinl Funeral Home, Minster.
