Allan D. Boedeker, 67, of Mayville, ND, died Friday, August 22, 2008 at Union Hospital in Mayville.

Allan Dietrich Boedeker was born on May 31, 1941 in Portland, ND to Otto and Manda (Nelson) Boedeker. He graduated from Mayville High School in 1959 and received a Bachelor Degree in Secondary Education from Mayville State University in 1963. In 1973, he received a Masters in Science from the University of North Dakota, and, in 1992, a Masters in Education Administration from UND.

Allan taught in Minnewaukan, ND, Linton, ND and from 1965-2000 in Thompson, ND where he was a high school science teacher, bus route driver and high school principal. He truly enjoyed teaching, and made many special friends during his years in Thompson. His high school classmate, Bernold Olson, started teaching there the same year as Allan, and also retired in the same year as Allan. Superintendent Perry Bakke, elementary principal, Dorothy Bohlman, and the staff at Thompson School became his second family. After retiring, Allan crop adjusted for two years, and then taught in Climax, MN for 1 ½ years until his ill health forced him to retire again.

Allan had many special people in his life: his niece "growing-up-with buddy" Sharon, and his cousin, Lavon Nelson who was like a brother to him. He had a great sense of humor, and enjoyed riding around in his old pickup with his Red Siberian Husky, Ashton, wearing sunglasses.

Allan had an analytic mind and in interest in a wide range of topics. He loved learning and applying what he knew to new situations. He was not only a classroom teacher, but a teacher to all. Even through his final week, Allan was still teaching; he had an inner peace that touched everyone around.

He is survived by 3 sisters, Gail Filipi of Mayville, Veda (Bob C.) Krigbaum of Grand Forks, ND, and Joyce Ulland of Mayville; nieces and nephews, Brian (Sunday) Filipi of Centennial, CO, Karla (Gary) Smith of Centennial, CO, Kristie (Kurt) Reynolds of Red Lake Falls, MN, Eddie Filipi of Denver, CO, Bob A. (Darcy) Krigbaum of Springfield, MO, Paula (Ross) Walden of Buxton, ND, Bill (Ann) Krigbaum of Hillsboro, ND, Jon (Fiancé Kelly Greenlees) Krigbaum of Grand Forks, Kelly Steinbach of Dickinson, ND, Ray Ulland of Minot, ND, Laurie (Dave) Perlmutter of Detroit Lakes, MN, and Sharon (Cal) Peterson of Mayville, and all of their families.

He was preceded in death by his parents and two infant sisters, Blanche and Naomi.
