Funeral Saturday For Crash Victim
SUTTON - Funeral services for Jacob Bender, 70, killed in a collision with an oil tanker here Monday evening, will be held Saturday afternoon at 2 o'clock at the First Reform Church with the Rev. Rev. Paul Traiger officiating.

Mr. Bender was born in Russia in 1872, coming to this country and settling in Sutton in 1907. He has operated the Jacob Bender and Sons Implement Company for 36 years.

He is survived by his wife and seven children, Edward of Weeping Water, Corporal John Bender of Texas, Mrs. Marie Bender, Mrs. Theresa Bender, Mrs. Katherine Schultz, Mrs. Esther Beacham of Sutton and Mrs. Edna Johnson of Omaha.

Crash At Sutton Monday


Jacob Bender, 70, in the implement business in Sutton for 36 years, was killed Monday night when the truck he was driving collided with an oil transport on Highway No. 6 in the east part of town.

The oil tanker careened against a car that was attempting to pass, demolishing it. The couple in the car was slightly injured. They would not reveal their names. Robert Holgate, driver of the transport from South Sioux City, was uninjured.

Bender is survived by his wife and seven children. --Hastings Daily Tribune.
