Services Held for Nephi M. Olson, 63
Funeral services were conducted Tuesday at 12 noon in the Mt. Pleasant Second- Third ward for Nephi Marx Olson, 63, Former sheepherder, carpenter, farmer, laborer who died Wednesday evening from a heart attack, while on a fishing trip in the mountains east of Mt. Pleasant. (At the time of death was working for neighbor, Ruel Seeley).
Bishop Ruel H. Seely presided at the services.
Burial was in the Moroni cemetery under direction of Jacobs Mortuary.
Mr. Olson was born in Moroni February 13, 1893, a son of Peter Olof and Magdalene Marx Olson. His first wife was Elizabeth Nielsen of Milburn from whom he was divorced. On July 19, 1927 he married his second wife Mary Matilda Davis (known as Mae) in Salt Lake City and they moved to Moroni in 1944, and to Mt. Pleasant in 1948. She died may 24, 1950. Me married Christina Mulligan in Ely, Nev., January 25, 1951. He was a member of the LDS Church.
Surviving are his widow, Mt. Pleasant, and tens sons and daughters, Mrs. Mary Cragun and Eugene Olson, Ogden; Mrs. Ina Bunn, Burley, Idaho; Mrs. Keith (Roberta) Sorensen and Darrell Marx Olson, Salmon city, Idaho; Mrs. Doyce (Yvonne) Shepherd, Mrs. Kenneth (Rene) Simons and Marvin K. Olson, Salt Lake City; Robert Lynn Olson, Mt. Pleasant, and Ferrin Davis Olson, Dugway; three step children , Mrs. Agnes Wright, Mrs. Katherine Pace and Mrs. Phyllis Conover, Scofield; his step mother, Mrs. Sena Olson, Mt. Pleasant; four brothers and two sisters, Ray and Owen Olson, Mt. Pleasant; Ira Olson, Price; Mrs. Reid Larsen, Emery; Mrs. Magdalene Snow, Salt Lake City, Leo Olson, Paul, Idaho, and thirteen grandchildren.
Ruel H. Seely, bishop of the Third ward, presided at the services. Preliminary music was played by Ethel Porter and Daniel Rasmussen gave the opening prayer; vocal quartet, "Lead Me Gently Home", George Squire, Andrew L. Peterson, Opal Hermansen and VaLene Johansen; speaker, Ray D. Christensen of Moroni; vocal trio, "Beyond the Sunset", Magdalene Taylor, VaLene Johansen and Opal Hermansen; speaker, Matilda Rasmussen of Provo; speaker, Bishop Seely; organ solo, Ethel Porter; benediction, George Squire.
Burial was in the Moroni Cemetery under the direction of Jacobs Mortuary. Owen Olson dedicated the grave.
