HANNIBAL - Billy E. Charlton, 76, of Hannibal, died at 7:20 p.m. Thursday, April 11, 2002, at his home.
Funeral services will be at 1 p.m. Monday, April 15, at the James O'Donnell Funeral Home in Hannibal. Rodger Lane will officiate. Burial, with military rites by Emmette J. Shields American Legion Post 55, will be at Grand View Burial Park in Hannibal.
Visitation will be from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. Sunday, April 14, at the funeral home.
Mr. Charlton was born Feb. 9, 1926, in Hannibal to Flavin and Laura May Pierce Charlton.
He was married to Emma J. Sanderson on March 6, 1953, in Hannibal. She survives.
Other survivors include one daughter, Lynne White of Hannibal; three sisters, Loretta Smashey and Jeri Jones, both of Hannibal, and Carolyn (Kay) Sigler of Denver, Colo.; and four grandchildren, Emily Singleton, Michael Inman, Stephen Inman and Richard White.
The family wishes to name nine surviving great-grandchildren, Scott Norell, Christopher Nelson, Brandi Nelson, Bradon Inman, Billy Inman, Stephen Inman, Jonathan Inman, McKenzi White and Dalton White; and to include as survivors special friends, Gerald and Liz Tobias of Hannibal.
He was preceded in death by four brothers, Raymond Charlton, Wayne Charlton, Richard Charlton and Frank Charlton; and one sister, Laura Robertson.
Mr. Charlton was a veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II. He was owner and operator of AAA Tank and Sewer Rooter Service. He was a member of the Emmette J. Shields American Legion Post 55 and a Christian by faith.
Memorials may be made to American Cancer Society or American Heart Association.
Pallbearers will be Jessie Howald, Frank Howald, Joe Howald, Bobby Howald, Dennis Howald and Vince Howald.
