She was born in Terre Haute, IN, on October 8, 1917, but lived in San Antonio nearly all her life.
She was an Alamo National Bank trust officer for 30 years, and a member of the American Business Women's Association.
Frances was also a devoted caregiver for her daughter "Booshie" until her death.
A member of St. Gerard's Catholic Church, she enjoyed playing the piano and passing her skills on to others.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Sandor Ambrus, Jr.; and daughter, Marian (Booshie) Ambrus.
Survivors include two sons, Sandor Ambrus, III and wife, Vickey of Canyon Lake, and Richard Ambrus and wife, Bonnie of Houston; four grandson, Alexander Ambrus, David Ambrus, Scott Ambrus and wife, Sarah, and Jeffrey Ambrus and wife, Jessica; three great-grandchildren; Ryan, Natalie and Isabella; two sisters, Marian Baird and Louanne King; three sisters-in-law, Winnie, Connie, and Willie Matheny; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Interment will be Fort Sam Houston National Cemetery.
