Ella Schnittger
Truman, Minn. – Services for Ella Schnittger, 93, of Truman, will be held Saturday at 10:30 a.m. at United Methodist Church in Fairmont. Interment will be in East Side Cemetery at Estherville. She died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 1995 at Lutheran Retirement Home in Truman. Olson Funeral Home of Fairmont is in charge of arrangements.

She was born Jan. 2, 1902 in Lake Belt Twp., Martin County, Minn. and attended District 45 country school. After she finished school she worked for families in the area and her father during harvesting. On Nov. 10, 1923 she married Arthur Schnittger. Following marriage they lived near Huntington and Dunnell, in 1942 near Dolliver. She was cook at Dolliver schools. She moved to Fairmont in 1964 and in 1990 to the Lutheran Retirement Home in Truman. She was a member of Fairmont United Methodist Church; Martin County VFW World War I Auxiliary, Unit 1222, where she was a past president and also 2nd District past president.

Survivors include one daughter, Mrs. William (Hazel) Leiding, Ceylon; a son Wayne of Colorado Springs; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one sister, Mrs. Charles (Frieda) Schmidt, of Ceylon; three sisters-in-law.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, son, grandson, two brothers and three sisters. (Estherville Daily News, Estherville, IA, December 9, 1995)
