She was born and reared in Ware County and was a former member member of Waycross First Presbyterian Church and the Ware County Home Demonstration Club. Her present membership was at Atlamama Presbyterian Church in Brunswick, Georgia where she has resided for the last 13 years.

She was the widow of Gilbert Franklin Rowland, Sr. and the daughter of John C. Stone and Annie Faye Thornton Stone.

The survivors include three daughters, Clara Faye Harrison (husband Raymond), Carolyn Rowland, and Celeste Rowland, all of Brunswick, Georgia; two sons, Gilbert Franklin Rowland, Jr. (wife Alice) and David Rowland (wife Joyce), both of Waycross; 10 grandchildren, Elaine Carver, Ray Harrison, Holly Walker, and Bonnie Cormican of Brunswick, Angela Rowland, Judy Rowland, Lisa Evans, and Pamela Sweeney of Waycross, David Rowland of Blackshear and Chip James of Pasadena, Maryland; and 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild and other relatives.
