Khalil Qasim Salaam born December 26, 1948 in Harlem, NY, died peacefully at home surrounded by his family on Saturday. Predeceased by his parents, Beatrice and Roosevelt Ross; brother, Maurice "Bubu" Ross and sister, Katie Carter. Qasim leaves to cherish his memory his caregiver and devoted wife of 33 years, Fatimah Salaam; brothers, Alonzo (Sheila) Ross (Albany) and Wilson (Mildred) Price (Syracuse); sons, Ronald "Jalil" (Demica) Marks (Syracuse), Alan "Ali" (Denise) Toppin (NY) and Jumal (Latasha) Salaam (Syracuse); daughters, Kim Clark (NY), Kanika Hodges (Yonkers, NY) and Najah (Tim "Noble") Salaam (Syracuse); special niece, Deborah Smith (Berkeley, CA); 20 grandchildren, two great-granddaughters and a host of family and friends. Burial was at Oakwood Cemetery following prayer service at the Islamic Society of Central New York.
