He was born Sept. 27, 1921, in Decatur County the son of Fred and Minnie Voege Kress. He was a member of the Smyrna Lutheran Church. He married Naomi Masters Oct. 4, 1952, and she preceded him in death in 1979. He had delivered milk for the Blue River Dairy of Kentucky for many years, then worked 17 years with Tru-Temper in Columbus. He retired in October of 1986 from the Decatur County Memorial Hospital after working there for 10 years.
He is survived by two sisters, Alice Kress, with whom he made is home on R.R.9, Greensburg, and Mrs. Howard (Clara) Kunz, Greensburg; one brother, Ervin Kress, Greensburg; three nephews and one niece.
Services will be 1:30 p.m. Wednesday at the Gilliland-Howe Funeral Home, Greensburg, with the Rev. Dr. Charles Aylor officiating.
Burial will be in the Smyrna Lutheran Cemetery.
Visitation will be from 4 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.
The family suggests that memorials go to the Smyrna Lutheran Cemetery Fund, or to the favorite charity of the donor.
