He died while performing military training exercises. He had served in the Marine Corps for 11 years and had completed combat tours in Iraq/Kuwait (OIF) and Afghanistan (OEF), Among his military awards and decorations were the Marine Corps Good Conduct Medal (3); Combat Action Ribbon; Global War Terrorism Service Medal (2); Global War on Terrorism Expeditinary Medal; Sea Service Deployment Ribbon (2); Iraq Campaign Medal; National Defense Service Medal; and Navy Meritorious Unit Commendation.
He was survived by his wife of over two years; their 8 month old son; his mother; his father; his brother; and his paternal grandmother.
Funeral services were held on Saturday, November 5, 2011, at Calvary Pentecostal Holiness Church. Interment on December 8, 2011.
