Robert B. McKee, 73 of Mesa, Arizona died Thursday, February 9, 2006 at his home. His funeral service will be Saturday, February 18, 2006 at 3:00 p.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Gering with Pastor Linda Battello officiating. Cremation will follow the service. A graveside service will be at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, February 20, 2006 at Forest Lawn Cemetery in Morrill with military honors by the Nebraska National Guard. Visitation will be Saturday from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. at the church. Bob was born on April 6, 1932 in Henry, NE. to Burton and Eva (Morehouse) McKee. He graduated from school in Lyman, NE. and attended Nebraska Western Jr. College. He entered the U.S. Navy on April 26, 1951 and served during the Korean War. He was honorably discharged on March 11, 1955. Bob married Shirley Yvonne Sayre on May 21, 1954 in San Diego, CA. On November 17, 1978, Bob married Shirley (Butcher) Pieper in Cheyenne, Wy. He worked for the Great Western Sugar Co., Jirdon Agri Chem in Morrill, and B & C Steel in Gering. He moved to Apache Junction, AZ in 1986, where he worked as a real estate agent, retiring in 2005. Bob enjoyed traveling with his wife, visiting his family and friends and especially his 15 grandkids. He also enjoyed golfing, singing, bowling, shooting pool, softball, dancing and playing cards. Bob is survived by his wife Shirley M. of Mesa, AZ; sons Michael "Dingus" and Nancy of Gering and Kelly and Gina of Puyallup, WA; daughter Terry Eisele and Dave of Lyons, CO; stepson Timothy and Joan Pieper of Torrington, WY; stepdaughters Diana and Nick Ehrman of Vancouver, WA and Sally and Jim McKenzie of Norfolk, NE; 15 grandchildren, sister-in-law Dely McKee and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, sister Janet and brother Boyd.
