BALTIMORE, Oct. 8 -- Miss Emily MacTavish, daughter of Mrs. Charles Carroll MacTavish, took her final vows yesterday as a religieuse at Mount De Sales Convent, near Catonsville, Baltimore County. The ceremony took place in the afternoon and was witnessed by the Sisters of the convent, relatives, and a few intimate friends. Archbishop Gibbons addressed the young lady on the important step she was taking in renouncing the world and its pleasures. Miss MacTavish, now known as Sister Mary Agnes, is a descendant of Charles Carroll of Carrollton and granddaughter of the late General Winfield Scott. For several seasons she has been very prominent in social circles in this city. It is stated that a few days ago she executed a deed relinquishing all claims to her father's estate in favor of her family.
