WORTHINGTON - QUIRINUS PAUL KOOB was born May 25, 1917, in Iona, Minn., to Joseph and Pauline (Wermerskirchen) Koob. He grew up in Iona and graduated from St. Columba High School in 1934. He served in the U.S. Army in the Aleutian Islands constructing runways for military aircraft during World War II from 1941-1945.

Quirinie was united in marriage to Evelyn Bathon on July 31, 1944, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Worthington, Minn., and they were married more than 67 years.

Following his discharge from the Army on Nov. 16, 1945, they lived in Iona, Minn., where he worked for Koob Implement with his father and brothers. In 1954, he built and opened a branch of Koob Implement in Worthington, and operated the business until he sold the Case dealership in 1973. Even after selling the business, he still enjoyed helping farmers find parts to fix their machinery and loved to tinker in his shop. Quirinie's joys in life included time spent with family and friends, fishing, golfing and attending Army reunions. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, the Knights of Columbus, Catholic Order of Foresters, American Legion Post #5, Elks Lodge #2287 and the Worthington Country Club.
