An area resident most of his life, Mr. Nieweg was a retired farmer. He was born July 8, 1886, in Foristell, Mo., a son of the late Frederick and Carolina Prante Nieweg.
He was married to Emma L. Kipp on Aug. 24, 1919, in Hamel. His wife died on July 14, 1953.
Surviving are a daughter, Mrs. Frederick (Gladys) Wiehe of Edwardsville, and a granddaughter. One brother and a sister preceded him in death.
Mr. Nieweg was a member of World War I Barracks No. 977 of Edwardsville, Alhambra American Legion Post 1147 and the Immanuel United Church of Christ in Hamel.
Friends may call after 4 p.m. Saturday at the Weber Funeral Home in Edwardsville. Services will be held at l:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home, with the Rev. James Chitty, pastor of the Immanuel United Church of Christ of Hamel, officiating. Burial will be in Immanuel Church Cemetery in Hamel."
