Miss Lena J. foster, decendant of two pioneer Chelsea area families, died Tuesday morning at Carmel Hall, Detroit, whereshe and a sister, MRs. Edith Stevens had made their home for the past year. Miss Foster was 86 years old. she reired 15 years ago after being employed as a postal clerk in the Ann Arbor Post Office for many years. Miss Foster was a member of a national association of retired postal workers and was a member of the Ann Arbor Business and Professional Women's Association and St. Thomas Catholic Church.
A daughter of John P. and Julia Hindelang Foster, she was bornin Chelsea July 12, 1878 and lived in Chelsea until going to Ann Arbor as a young woman.
Survivors of Miss Foster are 2 other sisters, Mrs. Josephine Reiter of Salt Lake City, MRs. Cora Beissel of Chelsea, two brothers, Bert Foster of Ann Arbor and Arthur Foster of Bloomfield Hills.
Funeral services will be held at St. Thomas Church, Ann Arbor and burial at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Chelsea.
