Mrs. Edward Beissel Dies Saturday at Rest Home Following Long Illness
Mrs. Cora Beissel, a livelong Chelsea resident, died Saturday morning at Cedar Knoll Rest Home in Grass Lake.
Mrs. Beissel, 89, lived at 542 McKinley St. for many years before entering Cedar Knolls 5 years ago.
She was born April 18, 1880 to John P. and Julia Hindelang Foster in Washtenaw county and married Edward Beissel Aug 21, 1909 at St. Thomas Church , Ann Arbor. He preceded her in death Dec 31, 1937.
She was a member of St. Marys Catholic Church and the Altar Society of St. Mary's and was formerly a practical nurse in the Chelsea area.
Survivors include 3 sons, Richard of Ann Arbor, Gerald of Concord, Edward of Chelsea(died in 2002) and two daughters, Mrs. Elinor(Arnold) Staudacher, Jackson and Mrs. Julainne (Joe) scott, Chelsea; two brothers, Arthur Foster of Birmingham, Bert Foster of Ann Arbor, two sisters, Mrs. Edith Stevens of Detroit, Mrs. Josephine Reiter of Salt Lake City; twelve grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were at 10am Tuesday from St. Mary's Church. with Rev. Fr. Francis Wahowiak officiating. Burial followed in Mt. Olivet Cemetery
