School nurse was active church member
Miriam Ruth (Hill) Hutton, 76, of Nescopeck died Sunday, Nov. 13, 2011, at her daughter's home in Cedar Park, Texas.
Born in Berwick on Feb. 27, 1935, she was a daughter of the late Thomas Eugene Hill and Miriam Irene (Herring) Hill. She was the widow of Marvin LaRue Hutton, who died Jan. 15, 2007. They had been married 51 years.
Miriam was a graduate of Berwick High School and Bloomsburg State Teachers College. She had also attended nursing school and became a registered nurse. She had worked at Berwick Hospital, Geisinger Medical Center in Danville, was a nurse consultant for Keystone Health Plan Insurance Company and was also an elementary school nurse at the Southern Columbia School District.
She was an active member of the Berwick Christian Church where she had served as a Sunday School teacher and Missionary Treasurer.
She is survived by: son, Dr. Michael Hutton, and wife, Patti, of McVeytown; son, Mark Hutton, and wife, Judi, of Sykesville, Md.; daughter, Melissa Martin, and husband, Donald, of Berwick; son, Marvin Hutton, and wife, Joy, of Bloomsburg; daughter, Michele Baran, and husband, John, of Cedar Park, Texas.
Her grandchildren are: Aaron Hutton of Harrisburg; Monica Hutton of McVeytown; Lisa and Nathan Hutton of Sykesville, Md.; Leah, Joshua and Daniel Martin of Berwick; Scarlett Gerlach and husband, George, of Lusby, Md.; Troy Blass of Benton; and Kimberly Davies, Adam Baran and Jennifer Baran of Cedar Park, Texas. Her two great-grandchildren are: Abby Hutton and George Gerlach Jr.
Miriam's siblings are: Thomas, Rollin and Don Hill; Judy Hunter; Carol Plymale; Libby Downing; and Janice Styer.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Evelyn Swank.
Friends will be received Tuesday, Nov. 22, from 7 until 9 p.m. at the Berwick Christian Church, 701 E. Fifth St., Berwick. Her funeral service will be held Wednesday morning, Nov. 23, at 11 at the church. A visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday morning from 10 until the time of service. The Rev. John M. Hill, her pastor, will officiate. Interment will be in the Pine Grove Cemetery, Walnut Street, Berwick.
The Hutton family is being served by the McMichael & Rairigh Funeral Home, 119-121 E. Third St., Berwick, PA 18603.
The flowers will be provided by the Hutton family. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent to Camp Epachiseca, 23 Zaners Bridge Road, Stillwater, PA 17878.
