Ronald A. Hoefle, 74, of Aurora passed away on Tuesday, November 4, 2003 at his home. He was born April 24, 1929 in Freeport, IL the son of the late Everett and Pauline (Brubaker) Hoefle.
    Ronald was a longtime, dedicated member of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Aurora where he had served as an elder and a deacon and as a representative of Westminster Presbyterian Church Boy Scout Troop 55.
    He was a 1951 graduate of University of Illinois, having attained a degree in Civil Engineering. Upon graduating, Ronald received the Ira O. Baker Award which was an honor bestowed to a distinguished engineering graduate. He was a member of the Chi Epsilon honorary fraternity and the Tau Beta Pi fraternity at University of Illinois and was a member and past president of the student chapter of the American Society of Civil Engineers.
    He was a member, past president, vice president and secretary of the DuKane Chapter, Illinois Society of Professional Engineers; member president, vice president and secretary of the Illinois Society of Professional engineers; member of the Structural Engineers Association of Illinois; member and past president of the National Society of Professional Engineers and was a member of the Water Pollution Control Federation. He was a principal of Walter E. Deuchler and Associates for more than 30 years.
    Ronald was also a member and past president of the Aurora Noon Rotary Club and was very proud to have helped found a group called the Rotary Engineers which tutored at McCleery Elementary School. He ultimately received the Golden Apple Award from West Aurora School District 129. He served on the board and as president of the Community Counseling Center. He served his country in the U.S. Air Force for 10 years, retiring as a captain.
    Survivors include his wife of 49 years, Shirley (Stegeman) Hoefle of Aurora; his children, Jo Fett of Aurora, Paul (Mary Beth) Hoefle of Sullivan, Wisconsin and Julie Stanley of Carmi, IL; his grandchildren, Jennifer Lynn (Jason) Drury, Roger William (Nicole) Evans, Crystal Diane Fett, Brenda Joe Fett, Valerie Lynn Stanley, Timothy Paul Stanley, Mary Elyse Hoefle, Mitchell Everett Hoefle and Matthew Edwin Hoefle; two great-grandchildren, Brooklynn Nicole Drury and Andrew James Johnson; a brother, Everett (Phyllis) Hoefle of Mesa, Arizona; and his brother and sister-in-law, Paul and Marion Stegemann of Manitowoc, Wisconsin.
    Ronald was preceded in death by his parents.
    Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, November 8, 2003 at Westminster Presbyterian Church. Rev. Cal Marcum will officiate. Interment will take place at Lincoln Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. on Friday, November 7, 2003 at The Healy Chapel, 332 W. Downer Pl., Aurora and from 9 a.m. until the funeral hour on Saturday at the church.
