FT. PIERCE, FLORIDA – Daniel "Dan" Owen Schwarzkopf, 80, died on Sunday, Nov. 20, 2011, in Ft. Pierce, Fla.

He was born on January 17, 1931, in Cass County to the late David P. Schwarzkopf and the late Geniva (Downhour) Schwarzkopf.

Dan served in the United States Army during the Korean War. He graduated from Purdue University. He was a Blackford County farmer before moving to Florida, where he worked as an electrician.

He is survived by his wife, Dorothy Schwarzkopf, of Ft. Pierce; son, Dale J. Schwarzkopf, of Villa Rica; Ga.; daughter, Linda K. (husband, Jeff) Hedges, of Fishers; son, Dee E. (wife, Michelle) Schwarzkopf, of Hartford City; daughter-in-law, Angela Schwarzkopf, of Jupiter, Fla.; grandchildren, David Schwarzkopf, Christopher Schwarzkopf, Katie Slocum, Gregory E. "Chip" Canter III, Melissa Bayetakos, Jamey Stiller, Daniel Schwarzkopf, Annette Schwarzkopf, Cory Schwarzkopf and Denver Schwarzkopf; 13 great-grandchildren; step-son, Henry H. Sapp Jr., of Ft. Pierce; step-daughters, Regina Baumker, of Ft. Pierce, Sharon Indian, of Tennessee, Dana Langel, of Ft. Pierce, Sonja Corbett, of Ft. Pierce, and Bridgette Hamner, of Sebastian, Fla.; brothers, Doyne, Don and Dick Schwarzkopf, all of Indiana.

He is preceded in death by his first wife, Julia Joan (Clamme) Schwarzkopf, his son, Dennis Schwarzkopf, grandson, Nikolas Schwarzkopf, sister, Martel Todd, and daughter-in-law, Jacqueline Schwarzkopf.

A graveside funeral service will be private at Gardens of Memory Cemetery on Saturday, Nov. 22, 2011, with the Rev. Jeff Bucks officiating.

Memorials may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, Att: Donor Services, 4899 Belfort Road, Suite 300, Jacksonville, FL 32256.

He was born in Hartford City, Ind., and moved to Fort Pierce in 1990.

He graduated from Purdue University. He was a private in the Korean War and a wounded veteran. He was a master electrician in Florida and a farmer in Indiana.

Survivors include his wife, Dorothy Schwarzkopf of Fort Pierce; daughter, Linda Hedges of Indiana; sons, Dee and Dale Schwarzkopf, both of Indiana; stepson, Henry H. Sapp Jr. of Fort Pierce; stepdaughters, Regina Baumker, Dana Langel and Sonja Corbett, all of Fort Pierce, Sharon Indian of Tennessee and Bridgette Hamner of Sebastian; brothers, Doyne, Don and Dick Schwarzkopf, all of Indiana; 21 grandchildren; and 23 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Joanne Schwarzkopf; and son, Dennis Schwarzkopf.

Memorial contributions may be made to the Westside Baptist Church, 3361 S. Jenkins Rd., Fort Pierce, FL 34981.

Services: Visitation will be held from 5 to 8 p.m. with a service at 7 p.m., Nov. 23 at Haisley Funeral Home.

Burial will take place at the Gardens of Memory, Muncie, Ind.
