Shirley Beatrice Schaffer, 77, of Bayard, died at her home Thursday, January 12, 2006. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Monday, January 16, 2006 at the Plymouth Congregational Church in Scottsbluff with Pastors Les Parmenter and Rod Wetzig officiating. Friends may call Sunday, January 15, from 9am to 8pm at the Bayard Memorial Chapel. Interment will be in Bayard Cemetery.
Shirley was born January 22, 1928 to Alex & Alice (Haun) Kuxhaus in Scottsbluff. She received her education, graduated from Scottsbluff High School in 1945, and attended one year of Junior College in Scottsbluff. She married Walter Schaffer on February 26, 1950 in Scottsbluff, and they moved to Bayard where they have lived ever since. She was a member of the Faith United Church in Bayard where she was an organist for 20 years, and she was secretary for the Morrill County Weed Control Authority for 29 years.
Shirley loved her family, roses and all animals. She will be missed and always remembered by her beloved family and friends. She is survived by her husband Walter, son Walter Lee (Crys) Schaffer of Bayard; grandsons Wade Schaffer of Scottsbluff & Gabrial Schaffer of Gering; great grandson Cole of Gering; mother Alice Kuxhaus & sister Jodene (Doug) Chappell both of Scottsbluff & numerous nieces and nephews.
Her father Alex and twin sister Sharon preceded her in death.
