Karl Toben, Sr., Of Westfield Township died Tuesday, Feb. 24

Karl Toben, Sr., of Westfield Township, and an Akron pioneer, died suddenly at his home Tuesday night, Feb. 24.

Karl Toben was born December 12, 1863, in Wittmund Ostfriesland, Germany, and came to the United States in 1885. In 1898 he was united in marriage with Clara Janssen Thiel, who preceded him in death in 1926.

Five children were born to this union. They were Martin, Karl, Jr., John, Katie and Clara, all surviving. One brother survives in Germany, and three stepchildren, Fred Thiel, Amelia Dewey, and Frieda Philips, also survive. He was 84 years, 2 months, and 12 days old at the time of his death.

Funeral services will be held Friday, February 27, at 8:30 o'clock at, the Immanual Lutheran church at Akron. Interment will be in the. Akron cemetery. Rev. David Roy will officiate at the services. The pallbearers will be Martin, Karl, and John Toben, Frank Neunaber, Ray Warnsink and August Kammann.

The Rossow Funeral Home at Akron was in charge of the arrangements.
