Funeral services for Alton Levelle James, Jr. will be held Saturday, Nov. 26, at 2:00 p.m. at first United Pentecostal Church on Hwy 531 in Minden, Louisiana. Officiating will be the Rev. Jeff Ramsey and the Rev. George Mc Adams. Interment will follow at Gardens of Memory Cemetery in Minden, Louisiana. The family will receive friends from 5 until 8 p.m. today (Friday, Nov. 25, 2011) at Rose-Neath Funeral Home.
Alton was born Feb. 6, 1944 in Haynesville, Louisiana and entered into death Nov. 22, 2011 in Minden, Louisiana.
His parents, Eunice and Alton L. James, Sr. preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Peggy Stevens James of Minden, Louisiana; son, Larry Levelle James of Minden, Louisiana; daughters-in-law, Lisa James Thrash of Sibley, Louisiana and Tonya Eubanks James of Minden, Louisiana; daughter, Sandra James Potor and husband, Ted of West Monroe, Louisiana; sister, Millie Gray and husband, Benny of Minden, Louisiana; brothers, Bion James and wife Dianne, of Haughton, Louisiana, Howard Tommy James and wife, Cathy of Minden, Louisiana and Barry James and wife, Dana of Ada Taylor; 11 grandchildren; 7 great-great-granchildren,and numerous nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers will be the Rev. George McAdams, Michael Harold, Alex Potor, Kevin Gray and John(Jr.) Guthrie.
