Francis G. Swoboda, 67, Washington, died Thursday, November 1, 2001, at St. Louis University Hospital, St. Louis.He was born October 22, 1934, at Washington, the son of William Swoboda and wife Rose, nee Schebaum.Mr. Swoboda received his education at St. Ann's Grade School, Clover Bottom, and graduated from Washington High School.On October 12, 1984, he was united in marriage to Norma Mues at the First United Methodist Church, Washington.Mr.Swoboda was employed as a carpenter for various area companies.He was a member of Carpenter Local 1839, the American Legion in Washington, the Wildlife Club and the Police Auxiliary.Mr. Swoboda served his country honorably as a member of the United States Army.He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, William and Raymond Swoboda; and by one sister, Lucille.Mr. Swoboda is survived by his wife, Norma Swoboda, Washington; one son, Keith Swoboda, Houston, Texas; four daughters, Katherine Henke and husband Tom, Taos, Karen McDaniel and husband Rich, Washington, Kay Boland and husband Steve, Washington, Karla Borgerding and husband Kevin, Marthasville; one brother, Kenneth Swoboda and wife Mickie, St. Peters; one sister, Millie Baier and husband Rusty, Washington; 12 grandchildren, Ryan, Kimberly, Amanda and Lindsay Henke, Nicole and Christopher McDaniel,Shannon, Patrick, Aaron and Kyle Boland and Tiffany and Noah Borgerding; four stepchildren; several stepgrandchildren; great-grandchildren; nieces; nephews; other relatives and many friends.Memorial services were held Wednesday, November 7, at Nieburg-Vitt Funeral Home, Washington, with Rev. Leo Shumaker and American Legion Post 218 officiating. Interment was in Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery, St. Louis.
