Benjamin Raymond "Ben" Eichman, Russell, the son of George and Mary (Schrader) Eichman was born March 13, 1912, in Grant Township of Russell Co., KS. His death occurred July 1, 1997, in the St. Francis Hospital, Wichita, KS at the age of 85 years, 3 months, 24 days.

Ben as all his friends knew him, lived all his life in the Russell area. He grew to manhood on the family farm and married Mildred Irene DUMLER on May 24,1936, at Russell, KS. To this union was born two daughters: Mary Ann and Bonnie.

The family lived on a farm 12 miles south of Russell until 1952 when they moved to a farm southwest of Russell. Ben was a mechanic for Kaw Pipeline for 30 years. During his life he was also involved in farming and raising livestock. As a hobby he restored many antique automobiles.

After the death of his wife Mildred on October 5, 1987, Ben continued to live at the farm until 1990, when he moved to Russell to make his home. After his health began to fail he moved to Vintage Place, where he has lived for the past several months.

He was baptized and confirmed in St. John Lutheran Church, at Russell.

He was preceded in death by his parents and wife Mildred; a brother, Mac Eichman; sister, Lydia Bender; step-brothers, Carl, and Jule Bender; stepsisters: Ada Bender and Elsie Herdt.

Survivors include: daughters: Mary Ann Riedel, Burbank, CA; Bonnie Fisher, Russell; 6 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; 2 step-grandchildren; 3 step-great-grandchildren; sisters: Frances Dallman, National City, CA; Esther Niedens, Dodge City; other relatives and friends.

Funeral July 5, 1997 at Pohlmans, Russell. Burial in Church Cemetery.
