Courtland Albrecht Bergen, age 78, of 3014 Rudolph Road, Eau Claire, passed away Wednesday November 26, 2003, at Luther Hospital as a result of a fall at home.

Courtland was born on November 1, 1925, in Cameron, Wisconsin, to Max and Agatha (Albrecht) Bergen. He was baptized and confirmed at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Cameron.

Courtland served in the U.S. Army Air Corps during World War II from 1944 to 1946, in the Pacific Theater. He married Margaret Amundson on August 28, 1954, in Cameron. Courtland worked at National Presto Industries for 39 years. He was a very active member of Peace Lutheran Church in Eau Claire, holding several offices.

Courtland is survived by his wife Margaret; his children, Lori (Ben) Douglas of Milwaukee and James (Ruby) Bergen of Apple Valley, Minn.; five grandchildren, Melissa, Brian, Bradley, Gabriel and Rachel; one brother, Max (Florence) Bergen of Eau Claire; many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Henrietta; and a brother-in-law.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, November 30, 2003, at Peace Lutheran Church, Eau Claire, with the Rev. Mark Schultz officiating. Burial will be at Pine Grove Cemetery in Cameron.

Friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m. on Saturday, November 29, at Fuller-Speckien Funeral Home in Eau Claire as well as one hour prior to the time of services at the church.
