Alan Theodore "Ted" Duell, 76, Ellis, died Saturday, June 24, 2006, at his home.

He was born Sept. 30, 1929, near Ruleton to Seth and Martha (Gattshall) Duell. He was a 1947 graduate of Goodland High School, and a graduate of University of Kansas and St. Paul School of Theology, Kansas City.

He married Virginia Beth Burk on July 29, 1955, at Goodland Methodist Church. He was an ordained minister, high school science instructor and piano technician.

Survivors include his wife, of the home; a son, Alan Duell, Duncan, Okla.; three daughters, Rae Michelle Seeber, Tulsa, Okla., Ramona Bock, Bluffton, Ind., and Cheryl Helget, Ellis; four brothers, Arthur Duell, Fayetteville, Ark., Joseph Duell, Yellow Springs, Ohio, Benjamin Duell, Ruleton, and Norman Duell, Holyoke, Colo.; three sisters, Eunice Samuelson, Frankfort, Rachel Purvis, Lawrence, and Ruth Trued, Lindsborg; and seven grandchildren.

Services will be at 1 p.m. Wednesday at Ellis United Methodist Church; burial in Goodland Cemetery with graveside services at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday.

Visitation will be from 9:30 to 11:30 a.m. Wednesday at the church.

Memorials are suggested to American Bible Society in care of Bateman Funeral Home, P.O. Box 278, Goodland, KS 67735.
