Paul William Steimel, 89,of Pocahontas, AR., passed away Sunday, December 04, 2011, at St. Bernards Medical Center.

Born July 13, 1922, in Engleberg, AR to the late William and Mary (Dohmen) Steimel.

He is also preceded in death by wife of 39 years, Jewel Steimel, brothers; Joe and Leo and sisters; Frances and Anna Steimel.

He is survived by six daughters; Helen Sconn of Mims, FL, Paula Snyder of Boswell, PA, Patricia Baltz, Shella Ledbetter both of Pocahontas, Mary Procyk of Laguna Niguel, CA and Shelby Rowan of Maryville, TN. Son Thomas Steimel of Mims, FL. 11 grandchildren, 9 great grandchildren and 3 great great grandchildren. Twin sisters; Pauline Frankenberg of Pocahontas and Marie Westrich of Indianapolis, IN.

Mr. Steimel was retired from the Army and Army Reserves and also Huffman Towing. In the Army he was a Chief Engineer on Tug Boat named Katherine L for 20 years. Mr. Steimel also received several awards which included SGT E 4 Good Conduct Medal and the Bronze Star while serving under General Patton in Paris, France. He was a staff Sargent in the Army Reserves for years.

Mr. Steimel also belonged to several organizations including American Legion, Quarter Master of Veterans of Foreign War and while stationed in Fairbanks, AL he worked on the building of the Alaska Hwy. He helped organize the yearly Christmas dinner for disabled children. He served as a Band Booster for PHS for 7 years. He was a foster parent for several years. Mr. Steimel was very active in church activities at St. Paul's Catholic Church, such as the food bank drive and church Bazaars.

Funeral services were held at St. Paul's Catholic Church. Burial was in St. Paul Cemetery.
