Death is Caused by Kidney Trouble Following an Illness of Some Time; Burial was Held Saturday
At 4:15 o'clock Thursday afternoon at St. Gabriel's hospital at Little Falls occurred the death of Herman J. Retzlaff. Kidney trouble from which the aged man had been suffering for some time was the cause of his passing away. Snce Friday, Dec. 5th, his condition became of a serious state and on Wednesday he was taken to St. Gabriel's hospital to receive medical attention but death occurred the following day.
Herman Retzlaff was born at Geno, Germany, April 8, 1862, nearly 69 years ago. His marriage to Mathilda Raddetz occurred at Trumburg, Germany, 35 years ago.
In 1902 the Retzlaff family came to America and lived at various places including Hutchinson, Buffalo Lake and Little Falls. In 1910 they came to Pierz from Hutchinson by team, enroute to a farm northeast of Harding which they now occupy. Last winter Mr. and Mrs. Retzlaff visited their son Paul in California.
Besides the wife the following children survive the death of their father, Paul of California, Mrs. Walter Seiler of St. Cloud, Mrs. John Chas. Kapsner of this place and the following at thome, Elsie, Anton, Eric, Nels, Wlater, Rudolph, Rose, Hubert and Elizaeth.
Burial service was held Saturday morning at ten o'clock at Pine Tree cemetery at Rucker.
