Vera Parr, 74, Died Friday; Rites Sept. 23
Vera Mary Parr, 74, of Blairstown died Friday, Sept. 20 in her home after recent failing health.
Services were held for Mrs. Parr on Monday, Sept. 23 at 10 a.m. at St. John's Catholic church, Blairstown. The Rev. John Ryan officiated.
Pallbearers were Ervin Schmuecker, Gerald Schmuecker, Melvin Schmuecker, Vernon Parr, Virgil Alberts and Bernard Brecht. Michelle Thorman was the organist.
Mrs. Parr was born Mar. 22, 1896 to Joseph and Kathryn (Boddicker) Schmuecker in Watkins. She was married to Simon F. Parr in Watkins on Feb. 12, 1924. Mrs. Parr was a resident of the area for her entire life. She was a member of St. John's Catholic church and had been active in Altar and Rosary Society.
Mrs. Parr was preceded in death by her husband, seven brothers and sisters and one grandchild. Surviving are a brother Alfred Schmuecker, Watkins: three sisters, Gertrude Schmidt, Williamsburg, Bertha Brecht, Norway, and Mary Alberts, Cedar Rapids. Five children, William Parr, Marengo, Joseph Parr, Vinton, Harold Parr, Luzerne, Mrs. Eddie (Lois) Ternes, Newhall, and Glenn Parr, Van Horne. Also surviving are 21 grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Peffers Halverson Funeral home, Blairstown, was in charge of arrangements. Interment was in St. Patrick's cemetery, Watkins.
