Ruth Stamman, Age 90, of Capac Michigan, passed away Tuesday, December 6, 2011 after an extended illness at St. John River District Hospital. Ruth Allena Engle was born May 4, 1921 in Utica, Michigan. She was a daughter of Sidney John and Anna Engle. She graduated from Imlay City High School in 1939. She joined the U. S. Army during World War II and served 3 years. She was in the WAAC (Womens Army Auxiliary Corp.) in 1943; WAC (Womens Army Corp.) until the end of the war in December 1945. She spent 18 months overseas in Europe as a Communications Specialist where she was attached to the 423rd Signal Corp. Ruth lived most all of her life in the Imlay City area. She was married to Morris Frank Stamman on October 16, 1954 in Imlay City MI. Morris died December 7, 1982. Ruth had been employed by the Total Oil Distributor in Imlay City. She retired after 14 years as the receptionist and secretary. Ruth also worked as a supervisory operator at Michigan Bell Telephone and at General Telephone Co. in Imlay City for several years. She was a member of the Zion United Methodist Church in Capac. Surviving are: her daughter: Annette Stamman-Fernandez of Algonac; a grandson: Tyler David Fernandez of Algonac; a brother: Harry Engle of Inverness FLA; and by several nieces and nephews. Ruth is preceded in death by : her husband: Morris; her parents: John and Anna Engle; sisters: Ethel Fardin, Clara Engle, Doris (& Hank) Ettema; and by brothers: Paul Engle and Earl Engle. Funeral service will be held 2:30 pm Sunday December 11, 2011 at the Zion Community Church in Capac. Pastor Lisa Clark will officiate. Ruth will be interred at Imlay Township Cemetery . Friends may call at the Muir Brothers Funeral Home, 225 Main Street, Imlay City, where the family will be available for visiting 2-5 & 6-8 pm Saturday, December 10th.
